BSFTA
Trail Rider of the Year |
The "BSFTA Trail Rider of the Year" award is to recognize the trail rider who does the most to support the trail riding program of the BSFTA. Eligibility is simple, you have to be member of the BSFTA, you have to register to be in the program so we can track your activity, and you have to be willing to file your hours with the trail committee on a regular basis.
A registered trail rider (you can register at any time, but must be registered to qualify for points) receives points for the following activities:
Host a scheduled BSFTA trail ride. Qualified rides are those approved by the Trail Ride Committee and posted on our Ride Calendar. The plan is for a Trail Points ride in each of the months of May through August, and two each in September and October, for a total of eight rides. |
Attend and ride a BSFTA points ride (see above). Ride hosts will fill out an attendees sheet and turn in to the Trail Committee. |
Presenting a Trail Ride Skills demo or clinic. These events will be approved by the committee for content and appropriateness. We can use these events to improve our trail riding skills and can host them at rides, or at other venues. If you can provide such an event, please contact a committee member. |
Attending an approved trail riding skills clinic or demo held in conjunction with an approved points ride. The clinician will fill out the attendee sheet |
Attending a trail ride skills clinic or demo not held in conjunction with a scheduled points ride. The clinician will fill out the attendee sheet. |
Attending a MFTHBA National Trail Ride put on by another affiliated. The affiliate should furnish proof of attendance. |
For every TWO hours of trail riding other than the above rides. We hope to encourage and reward each trail rider for their time on the trails. These hours are for anytime you are on the trial, regardless of with whom or where you ride.
This will be an honor system that will require you to track your time and report it to the committee on a timely basis. This can be done by email, regular mail, or phone. A "trail hours tracking form" must be submitted at the end of the year. Only hours ridden in the months of May through October will count toward the Trail Rider of the Year award
There will be awards for the top five trail riders in this program and there will be something for everyone who participates.
The award for the "BSFTA Trail Rider of the Year" will be a "Saddle Duster" made to protect your saddle from weather and dirt. These "Saddle Dusters" are very nice with leather accruements and have a value of $100. The Rider of the Year will have their name and the title "BSFTA 2010 Trail Rider of the Year" embroidered on the duster.
The second through fifth place awards will be equally desirable, but have not been selected yet. This is not a competitive deal. It is designed to allow the club to recognize those who really support the trail ride program of the BSFTA. It also allows riders of all levels to receive equal points toward the awards without consideration of their skill levels. You do not have to train for years to be part of this program, you just have to show up. Our plan is to have a series of fun, easy to ride, and easy to get to rides that will encourage participation and good fellowship within the BSFTA. |
